A platform check on a Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) platform led to the recovery of a firearm and the arrest of a convicted felon. Criminal Sexual Abuse Offender Quickly Arrested by CPD Officers After Witnesses Intervene to Assist Victim
With assistance from community members, a convicted felon is now charged after being quickly apprehended by officers following a criminal sexual abuse aboard a Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) bus on May 21, 2026. A 35-year-old female victim was traveling on the bus in the 1700 block of W. Roosevelt Rd. on the Near West Side when a 36-year-old male offender, later identified as Morris Love, sat down next to her. Convicted Felon Charged in December Homicide Following Four Month Investigation by Area Three Detectives
A convicted felon has been charged with murder following a monthslong investigation by the Chicago Police Department’s Area Three Homicide Detectives with assistance from the Public Transportation Section. Michael Wilson, 25, was arrested on April 20, 2026, for the murder of a 41-year-old man in December. Wilson was previously convicted on a felony weapons charge. Officers assigned to the Chicago Police Department’s Public Transportation Section Tactical Team recovered two firearms, including a ghost gun, from two offenders on a CTA train. One of the offenders is a convicted felon who was recently released on parole. Chicago Police Department Officers Collaborate with Law Enforcement Partners to Recover Nine Firearms, Stolen Merchandise and Nearly $300K in Cash
Officers from the Chicago Police Department, as well as federal and local law enforcement partners, arrested two convicted felons and recovered nine firearms in an ongoing investigation into stolen items taken in recent burglaries in the Chicagoland area. Convicted Felon Arrested, Eight Firearms Recovered Following Investigation by the Bureau of Counterterrorism’s Gang Investigations Division
Officers from the Chicago Police Department’s Gang Investigations Division within the Bureau of Counterterrorism apprehended and secured charges against a convicted felon who was in possession of numerous firearms and suspected narcotics. Chicago Police Department Works to Strengthen Bonds with Community During 13th Independent Monitoring Period for the Consent Decree
During the Independent Monitoring Team’s (IMT) 13th reporting period (IMR-13) for the consent decree, the Chicago Police Department continued its efforts to build stronger partnerships in the community and expand support for marginalized communities throughout the city. CPD also expanded efforts to strengthen supervision and accountability internally. The IMR-13 report was released today and covers the timeframe from July 1, 2025 through December 31, 2025.
