Community Alert – 22nd District – Catalytic Converter Thefts (P15-2-084)
About these crimes: On August 26, 2015, there were numerous reports of catalytic converters thefts from vehicles located in the Beverly & Morgan Park neighborhoods (9900-11700 S. Campbell – Washtenaw). Most of the targeted vehicles appear to be small to mid-size SUVs. The thefts occurred between 12:00am and 5:30am. Pictured above is a catalytic converter. Community Alert – 4th District – Residential Burglaries (P15-2-083)
This alert gives notice to residents of the 4th District (South Chicago) an increase in reported residential burglaries. During the month of August, six residential burglaries were reported in the area extending from East End Ave and Constance between 76th and 79th Street. Business Alert – 4th District – Wanted for Commercial Burglaries (P15-2-020 D)
This alert gives notice to citizens of the 4th District (South Chicago) of seven, potentially related commercial burglaries which have been reported this year. The incidents have primarily occurred at retail establishments along Ewing Avenue between 94th and 106th Street. The burglaries were first reported in January with the most recent having occurred on 18 August. This alert gives notice to residents of the Morgan Park (22nd) District of nine recent burglary incidents that occurred in the Washington Heights neighborhood on beat 2222 during the month of August 2015. In these incidents, a group of two to four male offenders make entry into houses through a window, taking property from within the residence and exit through the back door. Community Alert – 6th District – Social Media Related Armed Robberies (P15-2-07)
This alert gives notice to residents of the 6th District (Gresham) of robberies involving victims who are lured to locations through the use of social media. In each of these incidents, the victims made contact with a female utilizing the website skout.com where they would make plans to meet. Roseland Man Charged in West Pullman Shooting
Juvone Steele was arrested after he was identified as the person who shot a 20 year old man in the 12200 block of S. Normal Ave., on August 3, 2015 at approximately 4:00 p.m. The 20-year-old man sustained gunshot wounds to the right leg and a graze wound to the head. He was taken to Christ Hospital in fair condition. Steel was arrested and charged accordingly. No further information is available at this time. Click here for more information on this arrest

South Side Man Charged in Death of 13-Month-Old Child
An offender was arrested in connection to the death of a 13-month-old child on July 11, 2015. Officers observed Watkins in a vehicle fitting the description of a wanted offender’s vehicle from a fatal shooting that occurred on the 7700 block of S. Kingston Ave. at approx. 1:45 pm on the above date. Watkins then fled in the vehicle and struck a 13-month-old male, who was in a stroller on the sidewalk, in the 6300 block of S. Ellis St. …
