The Chicago Police Department (CPD) Training and Support Group (TSG) conducts an annual training needs assessment to collect input from stakeholders regarding CPD training priorities. This needs assessment process informs the development of CPD’s annual training plan.

The 2024 training needs assessment was conducted from February 8 through April 23, 2024. The TSG sought feedback using a number of mechanisms to collect input from diverse sources to ensure current, relevant, inclusive, and comprehensive reporting that accounts for different perspectives. The TSG gathered, analyzed, and prioritized stakeholder input to design CPD’s 2025 annual training plan. The 2025 annual training plan incorporates training priorities, mandates, and required timeframe identified through the needs assessment, including a five-year strategic training plan.

CPD invites the community to review and provide feedback on its draft 2025 Annual Training Plan beginning June 24, 2024 through July 9, 2024.

CPD is asking you to consider the following questions when reviewing the draft plan and providing your feedback:

  • If you provided input during the 2024 training needs assessment, do you believe your suggestions were addressed?
  • What do you believe is missing from CPD’s draft 2025 Annual Training Plan?
  • What would you recommend CPD include in its final 2025 Annual Training Plan?

Please review the draft plan and provide your feedback in the Comment Box located below the document. Thank you again for your continued partnership in building a safer Chicago.
