Man Charged in Fatal Hit and Run
Jones was charged in connection to a fatal hit and run traffic crash which occurred on July 22, 2016 at approximately 1:50 p.m. on the 3300 block of S. Indiana. Jones was driving a 2016 Ford Cargo Truck westbound on 33rd Street when he ran a red light at Indiana and struck a 2014 Ford F150 pickup being operated by a 37-year-old male. Lyons Man Charged with Murder
Andrew Smith was positively identified as the offender of a shooting incident on the 6700 block of South East End Ave on July 19, 2016 at approximately 6:37 p.m. During this incident, Smith approached a male 38, and fired several shots before fleeing. The victim was taken to Northwestern Hospital with a gunshot wound to the chest and was later pronunced. Smith was taken into custody a short distance away and charged accordingly. In these incidents, unknown offender(s) gained entry into parked vehicles by breaking a window of the vehicle or opening unlocked car doors. Once inside, offender(s) removed property from inside the vehicle.
