Mayor Emanuel, Superintendent McCarthy Launch Police Recruitment Campaign
Mayor Rahm Emanuel and Superintendent Garry McCarthy today announced that the City is accepting applications to join the Chicago Police Department for the first time since 2013. The starting salary for Chicago police officers is $47,604 and increases to $72,510 after eighteen months of employment. The application period is now open, and will close at the end of the day on Wednesday December 16, 2015. A written exam will be administered in February 2016 to those who apply. Chicago Police Officers Save Two Men From Burning Car
On November 1, 2015, at approximately 2:20 a.m., Gresham (6th) District officers responded to a traffic crash on the 7700 block of South Loomis, after a male driver traveling at a high rate of speed struck several parked vehicles. In these incidents, one to two unknown male offender(s) approach their victims and by use of force, robs the victims of their property. This alert gives notice to residents of the 6th District (Gresham) of robberies involving victims who are lured to locations through the use of social media. In each of these incidents, the victims made contact with a female utilizing the website skout.com where they would make plans to meet.
