This alert gives notice to residents in the 3rd District (Grand Crossing) of robbery related incidents in the vicinity of Cottage Grove Avenue to Greenwood Avenue and 61st Street to 67th Street. In these incidents, the offender(s) approaches the victims, displays a handgun and announces a robbery. The offender(s) flees with the victims personal belongings. Community Alert – 3rd District – Attempted Criminal Sexual Assault (HZ445751)
This alert gives notice to residents in the 3rd District a recent Attempt Criminal Sexual Assault incident. On Thursday, September 24, 2016 at approximately 9:45 P.M., a female victim was jogging northbound on the lakefront trail, in the area of South Shore Dr. and 68th Street. Roadside Safety Check – 3rd (Grand Crossing) District
The Chicago Police Department will conduct a Roadside Safety Check in the Grand Crossing (3rd) District at 7424 S. Stony Island. The Roadside Safety Check will commence at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, September 23, 2016 and end at 3:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 24, 2016. Lyons Man Charged with Murder
Andrew Smith was positively identified as the offender of a shooting incident on the 6700 block of South East End Ave on July 19, 2016 at approximately 6:37 p.m. During this incident, Smith approached a male 38, and fired several shots before fleeing. The victim was taken to Northwestern Hospital with a gunshot wound to the chest and was later pronunced. Smith was taken into custody a short distance away and charged accordingly.
