    Armani Bearden was arrested in connection with the murder of a 64 year old man. This incident occurred on the 6500 block of N. Hoyne Avenue on December 10, 2015 at approximately 5:30 p.m. Three others have previously been charged – Shatrata Lehmann, Alexander Robinson and a male juvenile.  Bearden was charged accordingly.     Alston Rodriguez, 18 was arrested after officers observed him attempting to illegally enter a residence through a window in the 2100 block of  West Rosemont. This incident occurred on December 24, 2015 at  approximately 1:00 a.m. Rodriguez was identified as the offender in multiple residential burglaries in the area and officers were able to recover proceeds that included several Christmas gifts.     Milton Anderson was arrested and charged in connection to a sexual assault and armed robbery that occurred on the 1400 block of W. Jarvis on December 19, 2015, at approximately 4:40 a.m. Anderson grabbed a 25 year-old female victim from behind as she was walking on the sidewalk. Anderson then displayed a handgun and forced the victim to a secluded area where he robbed and sexually assaulted her.     Mayor Emanuel, Superintendent McCarthy Launch Police Recruitment Campaign

    Mayor Rahm Emanuel and Superintendent Garry McCarthy today announced that the City is accepting applications to join the Chicago Police Department for the first time since  2013. The starting salary for Chicago police officers is $47,604 and increases to $72,510 after eighteen months of employment. The application period is now open, and will close at the end of the day on Wednesday December 16, 2015. A written exam will be administered in February 2016 to those who apply.
