Two garbage receptacle fires occurred on Beat 1723. Person unknown appear to have ignited available materials inside the receptacles with an open flame. North Side Man and Woman Charged in Armed Robberies
Medina and Marchan were arrested after they were identified as the persons who entered several retail businesses in the 17th and 25th districts from February 1st to March 25, 2015 and robbed the establishments. Medina entered the businesses announced a robbery and displayed a handgun on two of the incidents and a knife in the others, before demanding money and property. Community Alert – 17th District – Attempted Child Luring (HY123829)
On January 20, 2015, at approximately 3:15 p.m., a 10 year-old male and an 8 year old female were walking home from school on the 3900 block of N. Spaulding Ave., when a vehicle containing two male subjects attempted to engage the children in conversation. The passenger of said vehicle requested the children to come over to his vehicle, stating he would offer them a ride home or anywhere they wish to go. About the Crime: There have been four recent Commercial Burglaries in the 17th District. In these cases, an unknown offender shatters the front glass door/window of a business with a brick or concrete block, enters the business, and takes property from the business. Community Alert – 17th District – Criminal Sexual Abuse (HY105365)
On January 5, 2015, at approximately 8:45 PM, a 13 year old female was walking home from a friend’s house in the 3700 block of west Ainslie when an adult male offender approached her from behind. The offender uttered unknown words to her in Spanish and grabbed the victim’s buttocks. The victim began to scream and the offender fled through a nearby gangway. Business Alert – 17th District – Commercial Burglaries (P14-N-225)
About the Crime: There have been recent Commercial Burglaries in the 17th District. In these cases, unknown offenders forcibly enter a cell phone store by throwing a brick through the front window, or by prying open the rear door, and then enter business and take cell phones, USC, and other merchandise.
