The Chicago Police Department recognizes Safer Internet Day by promoting safe, responsible and informed internet use. As a member of the Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force Program, CPD works alongside law enforcement agencies nationwide to investigate online crimes against children and strengthen prevention through education and outreach.
Why It Matters
As children and teens spend more time online, the risks they face continue to grow and evolve. Awareness, education and early intervention are critical to prevention and keeping children safe as they navigate today’s digital world.
What You Can Do
Open conversations make a difference. Parents, caregivers and educators are encouraged to talk with children about:
- Online activity and boundaries
- Recognizing inappropriate or threatening behavior
- Reporting harmful or suspicious activity to authorities
