Chicago Police Department Latent Print Sergeant Appointed to the Latent Print Development Science and Practice Subcommittee  

As a testament to his expertise and wealth of experience in the field of latent print development, Sergeant Rob Franks from the Chicago Police Department’s Latent Print Development Section has been appointed to the International Association for Identification’s (IAI) Latent Print Development Science and Practice Subcommittee. 

Sgt. Franks, who works within CPD’s Forensic Services Division, oversees all latent print development utilized in criminal investigations. Members of the subcommittee are regarded as the foremost experts and top specialists in their areas of forensic science.  

“The appointment is a great credit to Sgt. Franks, whose appointment to the subcommittee reflects internationally the professionalism and high standards of the Chicago Police Department,”said CPD Chief of Detectives Antoinette Ursitti.  

As CPD has worked to expand and invest in its Forensic Services Division throughout the past few years, Sgt. Franks has spearheaded the growth of the latent print development team. In addition to establishing the use of best practices and techniques, he has worked to strengthen strategies, training and investigations involving forensic evidence at CPD. 

Through his appointment to the subcommittee, Sgt. Franks’ wealth of knowledge will now be shared globally to further strengthen the field of latent print development alongside other experts from across the world.
