9th District Officers secure felony charges against police impersonator

Officers working an anti-drifting mission in the 9th District on November 3, 2024 observed a large street takeover at 56th St. & Kedzie Ave. Officer Christopher Flores, Officer David Suarez and Sergeant Dan Warren of the 964 Tactical Team observed a vehicle wanted for a previous drifting incident in which the occupants were reported to be armed.​

Sgt. Warren and Officer Flores safely deployed a tire deflation device and successfully stopped the vehicle, which was outfitted with novelty police decals. The driver was wearing a police costume with toy handcuffs and a replica badge. The vehicle was also outfitted with blue and red flashing lights and an emergency siren. Officers recovered two loaded firearms, multiple false registration plates, narcotics, and a flame thrower. The vehicle was impounded. ​

Thanks to the officers’ investigative skills and tactics, this individual was taken off the streets and charged with two felony firearms offenses and multiple misdemeanor traffic offenses, including possession of police equipment on a vehicle.​
