Officers Patrolling CTA Arrest Convicted Felon in Possession of a Loaded Firearm

A convicted felon in possession of a gun inside a CTA station has been arrested and charged due to the vigilance of Chicago Police Department officers.

On June 23, 2026 at approximately 12:27 a.m., officers patrolling the CTA were conducting a check of the 79th Red Line Station as part of the Voluntary Special Employment Program, which increases the visibility and presence of officers on public transportation. One of the officers noticed 41-year-old Muarice Davis standing in the station’s mezzanine with an object shaped like a gun in his pocket. The officer alerted his partners and proceeded to approach Davis.

While officers were approaching, Davis began walking away. Officers were able to detain Davis and as they searched him, they recovered a fully loaded firearm.

As officers were arresting Davis, they also learned that he had an active warrant for another crime.

Thanks to the quick and decisive actions of these officers, Davis is now charged with:

  • One felony count of Aggravated Unlawful Possession of a Weapon by a Person with a Previous Conviction
  • Issuance of Warrant
