Missing Persons Medical Examiners Section

As part of Youth Investigations, the Missing Persons section has a Detective assigned to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office located at 2121 W. Harrison St.

The Detectives duties include, but are not limited to:

• Assisting in the identification of all deceased persons within Cook County and maintaining a record of all John and Jane Doe’s or unidentified dead,
• Obtain dental records, DNA samples, Blood Cards, and photos of the unidentified dead for possible identification,
• Identify those who may have been reported missing, working with the Area Detectives assigned to both death investigations and missing persons cases,
• Work as a liaison between Missing Persons, the Morgue, and all other Law Enforcement Agencies.
