Community Alert – Major Accidents, 24th District – Fatal Hit & Run (HY449557)
On Sunday, October 4, 2015, at approximately 6:52 p.m., a 63-year-old female was struck by a vehicle while crossing the street in the 2300 block of West Howard St. (intersection of Western Avenue and Howard Street). As a result of the crash, the victim sustained fatal injuries. The driver of the striking vehicle fled the scene of the crash without identifying themselves or rendering aid to the victim. Community Alert – 16th District – Garage Burglaries (P15-N-228)
This alert gives notice to the residents of the 16th District (Jefferson Park) of garage burglaries that have occurred in the months of September and October. In these incidents, unknown offender(s) made entry into residential garages by cutting a hole in the overhead garage door and then took property. Community Alert – 25th District – Attempted Luring (HY453246)
On October 6, 2015 at approximately 4:45 p.m., a female juvenile was walking west bound on the 5000 block of West Dickens Ave, when a male white Hispanic gestured and stated to the victim “come here, I’ll give you clothes or food”. The victim then ran across the street because a school classmate called her. The offender then entered a multi-unit apartment and exited side door to alley. Community Alert – 14th, 17th & 25th Districts – Robberies (P15-N-227)
There have been three related Robberies in the 14th, 17th, and 25th Districts. In these cases, one male and one female offender approach the victims, display a silver colored handgun and demand property. In one case, the offenders fire the weapon, which is actually a BB gun, striking the victim in the eye. The offenders flee in a Black Honda Coupe, driven by a third offender. Business Alert – 25th District – Robberies (P15-N-225)
This alert gives notice to businesses in the 25th District (Grand Central) of two recent robberies to small businesses in the 025th District. In these cases, three male black teens enter the business, display a black handgun and demand money from the cash register. In one case, the offenders also took property from patrons in the store.
