Community Alert – 11th District – Attempted Kidnapping (HY491469)
On November 6, 2015, at approximately 8:20 a.m., a 13-year-old female was walking on the 4000 block of West Adams when an unknown offender exited a vehicle and approached the victim on foot. The offender then grabbed the victim by her left arm at which time she was able to free herself from his grasp and run to safety. The offender fled in an unknown direction. This alert gives notice to residents in the 11th District (Harrison) of Residential Burglary related incidents that have occurred during the month of October and November 2015. In these incidents, an offender used force to enter residences, and once inside took Televisions, computers, United States Currency, jewelry/precious metals, and personal items. Mayor Emanuel, Superintendent McCarthy Launch Police Recruitment Campaign
Mayor Rahm Emanuel and Superintendent Garry McCarthy today announced that the City is accepting applications to join the Chicago Police Department for the first time since 2013. The starting salary for Chicago police officers is $47,604 and increases to $72,510 after eighteen months of employment. The application period is now open, and will close at the end of the day on Wednesday December 16, 2015. A written exam will be administered in February 2016 to those who apply.
