The 6th District is made up of the following neighborhoods: Chicago Lawn, Chatham, Burnside, Greater Grand Crossing, West Englewood, Englewood, Roseland, Washington Heights, Ashburn, Auburn, and Gresham. It includes the Chatham Parole Office and Norfolk Southern Railway.
Meet your commander – Andre Poston
Commander Poston, a 26-year member of the Department, most recently served as a Lieutenant in the Public Transportation Section within the Bureau of Counterterrorism. As a Lieutenant, he led public safety operations across the Chicago Transit Authority System, focusing on crime reduction through strategic resource deployment. Commander Poston leveraged the Public Transportation Section’s Strategic Decision Support Center (SDSC) technology to guide the data-driven deployment of resources and support proactive strategies that enhance safety and reduce violence. Before this, he was a Watch Operations Lieutenant and Field Lieutenant in the 002nd (Wentworth) District. As a Sergeant, Commander Poston worked in Airport Operations and the 004th (South Chicago) District. He holds a master’s degree in Management & Financial Fraud from Saint Xavier University and a bachelor’s degree in Law Enforcement Management from Calumet College of St. Joseph. He also attended the Police Executive Research Forum’s Senior Management Institute for Police.
