Community Conversations

Each year in the fall, the Chicago Police Department hosts Community Conversations throughout the city. These conversations are an opportunity for Chicagoans to participate in the creation of their district’s strategic plan for the following calendar year. The valuable feedback provided by participants at these conversations is used to develop community-driven crime reduction strategies, as well as community engagement priorities, and is an integral part of the Chicago Police Department’s implementation of the various reforms outlined in the consent decree.

We invite you to review the 2026 District Strategic Plan Drafts here. If you couldn’t attend your district’s Community Conversation, the survey link lets you share your input and voice any concerns affecting your community.  Your feedback is important and will be taken into account as we finalize this year’s District Strategic Plan.  All 2026 District Strategic Plans will be finalized and posted on December 31st, 2025.

Select your police district from the dropdown menu to see event details. Then, register for the Community Conversation that works best for you.

About the Office of Community Policing:

Beginning in 1993, the Chicago Police Department has been committed to implementing a comprehensive community policing strategy – CAPS – that is designed to make residents an active partner in preventing and reducing crime in all of Chicago’s neighborhoods. That strategy recognizes that police, residents and other neighborhood stakeholders, and other City agencies have to work together to address all the conditions that can lead to crime. No one stands alone; each of us has a role to play in improving the quality of life in our communities.
