Coordination Among Multiple Chicago Police Department Units Leads to Arrests and Charging of Two Juveniles Involved in Burglary Spree

Members from multiple units within the Chicago Police Department worked together to conduct an ATM burglary enforcement mission and investigation in the early morning hours of April 17, 2026, which led to the arrests and charging of two juvenile offenders.

Members of the Area Three Detective Division and Property Crimes Mission Team, the Citywide Robbery Task Force, the Auto Crimes Team, Area Two Detective Division Homicide Investigation Support Team, 4th District Tactical Team and District Intelligence Officers and the Wanted Vehicle Section coordinated the mission after recent ATM burglaries throughout the city.

The investigation also led to the recovery of multiple firearms, burglary tools and stolen and damaged ATMs. The investigation into additional offenders involved in this burglary crew continues.

During this mission, CPD officers monitored police radio for commercial burglary calls citywide. At approximately 3:25 a.m., four offenders broke a window at a business in the 3500 block of W. Fullerton Ave. in Logan Square and proceeded to steal an ATM before fleeing in a vehicle, which was determined to have been stolen. Community assistance helped identify the vehicle that was used.

The same vehicle was then seen in the 2500 block of N. Halsted in Lincoln Park approximately an hour later at 4:24 a.m. Video evidence showed multiple offenders broke into a business, took an ATM and fled the area.

An hour later, at approximately 5:30 a.m., officers responded to a business alarm that was activated in the 3600 block of W. 26th St in Little Village, where an ATM and cash register was stolen from a business by multiple offenders. Additional video evidence confirms the same vehicle used in the two earlier burglaries was also used in this incident.

After tracking the movements of the offenders and conducting surveillance with assistance from the ATF Chicago Field Division, officers arrested a 17-year-old male juvenile and a 16-year-old male juvenile who participated in these robberies.

Both juveniles were charged with:

  • Three felony counts of Burglary
  • One misdemeanor count of Criminal Trespass to Vehicle.

Additional community assistance and a search warrant related to this burglary crew led to the recovery of seven firearms, three of which were fully automatic. Multiple stolen items were also recovered, including two damaged ATMs from previous incidents, cash and cash register drawers. Burglary tools and vehicle reprogramming devices were also recovered.

An 18-year-old male who lives at the property where the weapons were recovered now faces multiple felony weapons charges. Avion Moore, 18, was charged with:

  • Three felony counts of Unlawful Use of a Weapon – Machine Gun/Automatic Weapon
  • Three felony counts of Unlawful Use of a Weapon – Unlawful Possession of a Handgun
  • One felony count of Unlawful Use of a Weapon – Rifle <16in-Shotgun<18in

These charges are the result of the strong partnership within CPD to address recent commercial burglaries. The focus of the involved officers was to bring justice to the victimized businesses and prevent additional burglaries that could have been committed by these offenders.
