17th District – Albany Park
The 17th District is made up of the following neighborhoods: Forest Glen, North Park, Irving Park, Avondale, Portage Park, and Albany Park. It includes the ComEd Generator and Office and the Office of the Consulate General of Ecuador.
Meet your commander – Jesse Alvarez
Commander Alvarez, a 24-year member of the Department, most recently served as a Commander in the Bureau of Patrol. Prior to that, he served as a Lieutenant in the 010th (Ogden) District. In this role, he led the District Coordination Officers as part of the Neighborhood Policing Initiative. He has also served as a Lieutenant in the 003rd (Grand Crossing) District. Prior to this, he worked as a 010th District School Sergeant, Field Sergeant and District Station Supervisor. Commander Alvarez holds a master of business administration in financial fraud from Saint Xavier University. He also holds a bachelor’s degree in law enforcement management from Calumet College of St. Joseph.
