Engage with CPD on Reform Efforts

As part of the Chicago Police Departments efforts to reconstruct community relationships, build trust, ensure constitutional and impartial policing, and strengthen CPD’s commitment to accountability and transparency, CPD actively invites the public to review CPD policies and trainings provided to officers.

This feedback is vitally important in helping to reform CPD and ensure our policies and trainings are informed by the communities we serve.

The Office of Community Policing offers a number of opportunities for you to get involved in CPD’s reform efforts! You can learn about different Chicago Police Department policies and procedures, meet with members of the Department, and share your feedback on how our policies, trainings, and procedures can be improved.

Review Draft Policies and Provide Comment on Them

CPD publishes draft policies on its website and invites the public to review them and provide feedback on them before the policy is finalized. Policies are often open for public comment for 15 days, but in some cases longer.
