2nd District – Wentworth

The 2nd District is made up of the following neighborhoods: Kenwood, Armour Square, Oakland, Douglas, Hyde Park, Englewood, Woodlawn, Washington Park, Fuller Park, and Grand Boulevard. Public Safety Headquarters, General Jones Armory, Washington Park National Habitat, and Lake Front are all within the 2nd District.


Meet your commander – Herbert Williams III

Commander Williams, a 25-year member of the Department, previously served as a Watch Operations Lieutenant in the 002nd (Wentworth) District, which he will now lead. As the Watch Operations Lieutenant, he managed resource allocation and staffing to reduce crime within the district. Commander Williams also worked to reduce violence by creating stronger bonds and partnerships within the community. He was also a Lieutenant in the Office of Constitutional Policing and Reform, where he coordinated in-service training with districts citywide and oversaw tiered deployment. As a Sergeant, Commander Williams worked in the Community Safety Intervention Unit and Special Events. He was also a Sergeant in the 006th (Gresham) District and the 005th (Calumet) District. Commander Williams holds a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice from Chicago State University, and attended the Senior Management Institute for Police Training at Boston University in June 2025.
